Oladosu’s strike sinks Rayon in major title blow

Africa-Press – Rwanda. A superb second half strike from Samson Oladosu powered Mukura VS to a stunning 1-0 win over Rayon Sports at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday, March 29.

The win came as a major setback for the Blues as a win for APR FC, who play Vision FC on Sunday, could see their lead reduced to just one point.

The game started with high intensity as the first foul was recorded after just two minutes of action. Boateng Mensah latched onto a ball before he was brought down by Amiable Nsabimana but the chance was wasted.

Rayon responded immediately a minute later as Richard Ndayishimiye’s connection from a Kevin Muhire free kick sailed over the bar.

The Blues tried to rely on long balls as they switched from end of the field to another.

Abeddy Biramahire had a ferocious drive from the right saved by Sebwato in the 13th minute as Rayon Sports began to exert their influence on the game.

Mukura had a free kick in the 18th minute after Oladosu was brought down by Ndayishimiye but Abdul Jalilu’s strike from 35-yards went off target.

Goalkeeper Khadime Ndiaye nearly gifted Mukura a goal in the 24th minute as he slipped in a attempt to clear a ball. He was lucky as the ball went wide.

Zuberi Hakizimana brought Rayon skipper Kevin Muhire down as he meandered space to pull a trigger in the 32nd minute but the resultant free kick was wasted by Abdul Rahman Rukundo.

Biramahire thought he had given Rayon the lead when he headed the ball into the net in the 34th minute. Referee Jean Claude Ishimwe initially whistled for a goal but after consultation with his assistant Juliette Akimana, the goal was disallowed for a handball.

Mukura VS were very compact at the back with Jalilu, Chris Rushema and Abdoul Ishimwe as they gave Rayon very little space to explore upfront.

After the 45 minutes had elapsed there was 3 minutes of time added on.

Hadji Iraguha fired a grounder from 25 yards in the 45 2 minutes which was saved by Nicholas Sebwato.

Both teams held on to a 0-0 draw at half time.

Jordan Dimbumba was shown a yellow card in the 46th minute as he deliberately sat on the bench and to be the last player to enter the field.

Rayon had a free kick around the Mukura penalty box following a foul on Rukundo but Fitina Ombrorenga’s delivery was saved by goalkeeper Sebwato in the 49th minute.

Mukura launched a swift attack in the 52nd minute through Dimbumba in the middle. He went past players before laying a pass to Boateng on the left. The forward didn’t have enough space as his shot lacked the needed precision to trouble goalkeeper Ndiaye.

Aziz Bassane and Roger Kanamugire came in for Rukundo and Souleymane Daffe in the 63rd minute as Rayon coach Robertinho reinforced his midfield.

Mukura started threatening Rayon’s vital area. Boateng perfectly controlled a ball in the Rayon penalty box and beautifully laid it for Dimbumba in the 66th minute but the midfielder’s shot scaled over the bar.

Quick thinking on the part of Khadime Ndiaye denied Boateng the opener in the 72nd as the Senegalese shot stopper came from his line to clear the ball.

Boateng, who had moved into a central striking role, weaved through the Rayon defense which looked shaky. He laid a superb pass to Oladosu who hit a fantastic strike into the net in the 74th minute with goalkeeper Ndiaye well beaten.

Rayon made their third change in the 80th minute bringing on Adama Bagayogo for Iraguha.

Mukura made their first substitution of the game in the 86th minute as Bonheur Sunzu replaced Distin Malanda.

After the 90 minutes had been completed, there was seven minute of additional time as Mukura defended gallantly to complete a double win over the league leaders.

Despite the win, Rayon remain top of the table with 46 points, four points ahead of second-placed APR FC who have a game in hand.
