REG Vs Patriots 7pm
Rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Patriots Basketball club will square off on Saturday in the National Basketball league.
The game will get underway at 7pm at the Kigali Arena.
Last season, REG was crowned the national basketball league champions after beating Patriots in a best-of-three finals.
Saturday’s match will be the first time the two teams are facing each other this season.
Patriots have reinforced their ranks with the signature of Ntore Habimana, Bello Nkanira and Bruno Nyamwasa, while REG have added Axel Mpoyo and Congolese centre Pitchou Kambuy Manga.
Henry Mwinuka, the Head Coach of REG said that they know that Patriots is a big team and they will approach the game with seriousness, avoiding mistakes.
Patriots captain Astride Mugabe also admitted that REG is a threat.
“Our games against REG are a big rivalry, with slightest mistakes always determining the winner and loser. We will ensure we avoid errors as much as possible.”
The game between the two local heavyweights will be preceded by another interesting encounter between APR and IPRC-Kigali at the same venue.
