Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rayon Sports WFC have set a Peace Cup semi final date with ES Mutunda after eliminating APAER WFC in the quarter finals with a 3-1 on aggregate victory.

The Blues lost 1-0 in the first leg at Rugende stadium but bounced back to thrash APAER 3-0 in the second leg held at Nzove Stadium on Wednesday to book a ticket to the semifinals.

Forward Dorothée Mukeshimana was on the target for the home side in the first half before in-form Florence Imanizabayo and Judith Otieno added two more goals in the second half to secure the victory that saw off APAER.

Blues women’s team coach Mohamed Nonde, who blamed bad pitch during the first leg defeat, was positive that his women would no doubt make a comeback and advance to the next stage of the tournament.

“I never doubted that we will play the semi finals,” said Nonde.

“We didn’t lose the first leg match because they dominated us, but because of the pitch conditions. Today we were at home so we used our advantage accordingly,” he added.

Inyemera beat Kayonza 5-1 to advance to the semi finals with a 6-1 aggregate win.

E.S Mutunda’s away 1-0 win over Nasho WFC in the second leg was enough for them to go through to the next round despite being held to a goalless draw at home last week.

Defending champions AS Kigali reached the semi finals after their quarter final opponent Rambura WFC was disqualified after failing to show up on the pitch for the first leg match.
