Africa-Press – Rwanda. Egyptian giants Pyramids FC arrived in Kigali ahead of their crunch CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against APR FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday, October 1.
Holders of the African premier club football competition, the team arrived at Kigali International Airport on Monday morning with their private jet and are staying at Zaria Court Hotel in Remera.
Pyramids FC traveled with a 26-man squad including three goalkeepers–Ahmed El-Shenawy, Mahmoud Gad and Ziad Haytham–and seven defenders namely Ali Gabr, Karim Hafez, Mohamed El-Sheiby, Mohamed Hamdy, Tarel Ala’a, Mahmoud Marei and Ahmed Sami.
The club also brought 12 midfielders including Abdelrahman Magdy, Ahmed Atef Qotta, Mostafa Zizo, Everton Dasilva, Mohamed Reda Bobo, Mahmoud Zadaqa, Ahmed Tawfik, Mahmoud Donja, Mohanad Lasheen, Blati Toure, Mostafa Fathi and Walid El-Karti.
Dodo El-Gabbas, Yousef Obama, Fiston Mayele and Marwan Hamdi will be leading the forward line of the African champions who had their first training session at Stade Amahoro training ground on Monday.
Pyramids return to the CAF Champions League to defend the title they won last season after beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the two-legged final.
Their previous two-legged tie against APR FC ended in an embarrassing loss for the Rwandan champions, losing 5-1 on aggregate. The pair had played a 1-all draw in Kigali before Pyramids thrashed APR FC 4-1 in Cairo.
