The latter is a Rwandan and Belgian racing driver and television presenter.
The FIA General Assembly week in Rwanda got off to a resounding start, with the FIA Girls on Track programme welcoming over 100 young women from schools across Kigali to a packed schedule of exciting and inspiring events at BK Arena, on Tuesday, December 10.

Joined by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and racing driver, F1 analyst, and presenter Naomi Schiff, the girls took to the track in karts for the first time as well challenging themselves on the simulators, trying their hands at different sporting challenges. According to FIA, the girls had the chance to meet with and hear from inspiring experts from across the world of motorsport who shared their advice and experiences with the girls.
Participants had the unique opportunity to connect online with FIA Women in Motorsport Chairperson Burcu Çetinkaya who joined them remotely from the Women in Motorsport North America summit in Indianapolis, fostering an inspiring international dialogue.
Our first day in Kigali was an opportunity to reflect on the power of our global network – and the way that we can come together to drive cross-border collaboration.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem met with the attendees and expressed his ongoing support for the programme: “The FIA is building better and more accessible pathways into motorsport, and initiatives like FIA Girls on Track allow us to speak directly to the future of our sport.
“I am dedicated to advancing female participation on and off the track, championing diversity within our industry, and ensuring accessibility.”
Sara Mariani, the FIA Sustainability and EDI Director, said: “It is vital we provide young women with opportunities like this. Opportunities to be inspired, to build their networks, to ask questions and to pique their curiosity.
“These girls are the future of motorsport and I am proud that the we are able to offer programmes like FIA Girls on Track that continue to grow and expand in influence.”
The FIA Girls on Track programme provides behind-the-scenes access to young women in the world of motorsport, offering educational race week initiatives including workshops and talks from leading women within the sporting community.
The FIA continues to expand the programme with further collaborations and activities planned in 2025.
