Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rayon Sports have confirmed the appointment of Frenchman Bruno Ferry as the club’s new head coach.
The 58-year-old is expected to arrive in Kigali on Friday, December 19, aboard a RwandAir flight from Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris, after which he will be officially unveiled by the club.
Ferry replaces Tunisian coach Lotfi Afahmia, who was sacked in November following a poor run of results in the Rwanda Premier League and an early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
Confirming the appointment on Wednesday, Rayon Sports revealed that Ferry will watch his new side from the stands when the Blues face Gorilla FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on December 19.
Ferry will be assisted by Marcel Lomami, who officially resumed duties as assistant coach on Tuesday during the team’s training session. The 40-year-old returns to the club’s technical bench after previously serving as Fitness Coach (2015–2018) and Assistant Coach (2020–2022).
Former caretaker coach Haruna Ferouz will remain part of the technical team as second assistant coach.
Ferry brings extensive African football experience, having previously worked with Accra Lions (Ghana) as a scout, Eding Sport (Cameroon), AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur (Senegal), Azam FC (Tanzania), and AS Vita Club (DR Congo), where he served both as assistant coach and head coach.
Ssenoga in, Egyptian winger released
Meanwhile, Rayon Sports have reportedly agreed terms with Ugandan attacking midfielder Muhamed Kagawa Ssenoga on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until December 2027.
The 24-year-old was leading the Uganda Premier League scoring charts with six goals in 10 matches for Express FC before his suspension, which followed the Uganda Cranes’ departure to Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, the Blues have pulled out of talks to sign Egyptian winger Ali Ismael Ahmed El Sayed Moussa after he failed to impress during a trial session.
According to club sources, a single training session was enough for the coaching staff and management to make a decision, citing lack of fitness and below-par performance as reasons for releasing the player.
