Africa-Press – Rwanda. Skol Lager, the main sponsor of Rayon Sports, on Tuesday awarded forward Abeddy Biramahire and Dorothee Mukeshimana for their outstanding performances in their respective men’s and women’s clubs throughout the month of March.

Through an online voting conducted across Rayon’s 46 fan clubs, supporters cast their votes on social media platform, particularly Instagram, for the best players of March where Biramahire and Mukeshimana scored the highest votes.

They were announced as the best players of the month at an award ceremony held at Mundi Center on Tuesday, April 29.

Prior to the ceremony, Rayon Sports men’s club president Thadée Twagirayezu said that the monthly award serves as a motivation for players in their continued quest to win the double of the league title and Peace Cup at the same time.

“Thanks to our sponsor ‘Skol Lager’, this awarding ceremony gives our club’s management a tool to set monthly goals for players, which is the right path to reach the championship,” Twagirayezu told Times Sport.

He clarified that the awards are given out based on players’ statistics as individuals, not on the club’s overall performance.

“The awarding initiative aims at motivating players. Besides that, sports have ups and downs. So, this also builds fans’ support for the club as their main contribution,” he concluded.

After receiving the award, Biramahire, who has been in electric for since joining the club in the January transfer window, said, “In one word, I feel grateful for being a Rayon Sports player. This really means a lot to me and also motivates the team to move forward and aims higher,” he said.

Jeanine Uwimana, the president of Rayon Sports women’s team, revealed that awarding both men and women comes as an extra motivation for women in sports.

“As Rayon sports women, we are proud of what our sponsor is doing by promoting equality in every aspect of sports. This shows how far women in sports can go,” she said.

Who said that, with the support, the future is of women’s football is bright.

“I’m very happy after winning this award, and this not only motivates me but also my teammates. So, I’m looking forward to doing better by leading my squad to achieve more,” said the club captain after receiving the award.

Abeddy Biramahire and Dorothee Mukeshimana were awarded for their outstanding performances in their respective men’s and women’s clubs throughout the month of March.
