Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda’s football governing body (FERWAFA) president Fabrice Shema Ngoga has been appointed as a member of the Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee of the world football governing body (FIFA).
Shema, who was recently elected to lead Ferwafa for a four-year term until 2029, joins 22 other members from around the world to the committee which has a responsibility to prevent and investigate cases of racism and discrimination within football federations, clubs, and associations under FIFA’s jurisdiction.
The committee is chaired by Kurt Okraku from Ghana, with Mark Wade from Bermuda serving as Deputy Chairperson. Mariano Araneta from the Philippines FA represents the FIFA Council on the committee.
Other notable members include Lorrelle Abrams (British Virgin Islands), Irene Aguiar (Spain), Rivaldo Antonio (Guinea-Bissau), and Bennett Bailey (South Africa).
Shema’s latest appointment adds to the growing list of Rwandans contributing to FIFA leadership. Martin Ngoga serves as Chairperson of the FIFA Ethics Committee, while Anne-Lise Kankindi is a member of the Football Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation Committee.
