Africa-Press – Rwanda. The football season in Europe and elsewhere across the world came to an end over the weekend, marking yet another campaign of excitement, disappointment, thrillers and individual exploits.
Some Rwandan players abroad have had an outstanding season with many of them being the fulcrum which their teams are built around.
Times Sport brings to you the best five Rwanda Players Abroad this season.
Bonheur Mugisha (Stade Tunisien, Tunisia)
Bonheur Mugisha took the Tunisian Ligue 1 by storm on his debut season as he established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Northern African league during the 2024/25 season.
The Stade Tunisien midfield anchor had a superb season playing 27 league games, and scoring 5 goals which is impressive for a defensive midfielder.
He played 90 minutes in 26 games and it was only the final game of the season against AS Soliman which he came on as a 46th minute substitute.
Mugisha has really shown that Rwandan players have quality and they can compete with the best at the highest level.
He was also instrumental as Stade Tunisien reached the Cup final.
Samuel Guelette (Raal La Louviere, Belgium)
The enterprising central midfielder was instrumental as Raal La Louviere qualified for the Belgian Jupiler Pro League which is the top tier.
Gueulette made 26 league appearances, scoring twice and providing 1 assist. He amassed a total playing time of 1867 minutes.
Guelette, who is the club’s vice-captain, has been nominated for the club’s player of the season award.
Ange Mutsinzi (Zira FK, Azerbaijan)
The towering centre back has been a pillar at the back of Azerbaijani outfit Zira FK which finished the season with 74 points from 36 games thus qualifying for the Europa League.
Mutsinzi was resolute at the back as Zira FK conceded only 27 goals.
Despite not playing in a big league, the Rwandan center back will have the luxury of showing his quality in the Europa League which could attract big suitors.
Hakim Sahabo (Beerschot, Belgium)
The Rwandan youngster made 23 appearances across two spells this season with Standard Liege and Beerschot.
Under Dutch coach Dirk Kuyt, Sahabo became the engine of at Beerschot after his January move. He played well despite Beerschot’s inability to survive relegation.
Djihad Bizimana (Al Ahli Tripoli, Libya)
The Amavubi skipper played 16 league games for FC Kryvbas in Ukraine before moving to Libyan giants Al Ahli Tripoli on February 6, 2025. At Ahli, he has played 5 games scoring just once.
The talented midfielder has brought stability to Al Ahli and they are home and dry to lift the domestic championship.
