Africa-Press – Rwanda. The sixth day of the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali turned into another memorable spectacle, a day of surprises, endurance, and fierce battles, especially on the cobbled climb of Kimihurura, famously dubbed Côte de Kimihurura.

The 2025 edition is taking place in Kigali from Sunday, September 21 to 28, bringing together riders from 108 nations, including a record 36 countries from Africa, the highest continental participation to date.

Team Rwanda’s Moise Ntirenganya, competing in the men’s junior road race, and Samuel Niyonkuru, racing in the U-23 men’s category, proudly crossed the finish line on Friday. Ntirenganya, an 18-year-old from Kayonza District in Eastern Province, finished 66th after completing all eight laps of the 119.3km course.

Niyonkuru also carried the nation’s pride, finishing the demanding 164.6km course in the Under-23 race.

Cheered on by thousands of fans lining the roads, the morning race saw England’s Harry Hudson strike gold in the men’s junior category, by completing the 119.3km course, clocking 2 hours, 55 minutes, and 19 seconds.

Later in the afternoon, Italy’s Lorenzo Finn, also 18, powered to victory in the Under-23 men’s race, sealing his gold medal. He completed the 164.6 km course in 3 hours, 57 minutes, and 27 seconds.
