Africa-Press – Rwanda. The second week of the ITF World Tennis Tour J30 in Kigali is set for a thrilling conclusion on Saturday, May 3, with familiar rivals and new contenders reaching the finals after intense semi-final matchups on Friday at the IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Court.
Germany’s Jack Berry, the fourth seed in the boys’ singles category, delivered a commanding performance in Friday’s semi-finals, defeating Italy’s Amerigo Ambrosi in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to book his place in the final.
Berry will face China’s Lantian Bai, who staged an impressive comeback to edge out Joseph Roboly 5-7, 6-1, 8-6 in a nail-biting contest.
On the girls’ side, India’s top seed Jannat Chiripal continued her dominance with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Malta’s Camilla Mizzi.
Chiripal, who claimed the girls’ singles title in the first week of the tournament, will once again face her compatriot Janvi Asawa in a rematch of last week’s final. Asawa advanced after defeating Egypt’s Sara Dessouky 7-5, 6-2.
