The Sports Emmy Awards, encompassing 47 categories of nominees, are presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) in recognition of excellence in American sports television programming, including sports-related series, live coverage of sporting events, and best sports announcers.

In 2024, Umulisa, the co-founder of the Tennis Rwanda Children’s Foundation, made history as the first Rwandan to become a member of the International Tennis Club of the United States of America (USIC), mainly courtesy of her dedication to improving the lives of Rwandan children through tennis and education via her development initiative dubbed ‘Tennis Rwanda Children’s Foundation (TRCF)’.
