Top US volleyball academy to visit Rwanda

Africa-Press – Rwanda. A5 Academy, a top US volleyball development team, will arrive in Kigali on November 19 for tourism and friendly games.

The development was confirmed to Times Sport by Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) Secretary General Jean Jacques Dukunde.

The team will have a five-day visit running until November 23 as part of its plan to explore the African continent, learning, and sharing volleyball experiences.

“This team requested a visit, which we think is a great chance for our teams to share knowledge. Furthermore, we are aiming for this team to share the same knowledge with our center of excellence,” Dukunde explained.

During their stay, the team will also play friendly matches against Rwanda’s top women volleyball clubs including Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) on November 20 and Kepler WVC on November 21.

All games will be held at Notre Dame des Anges gymnasium in Remera. On their last day, they will visit St Aloys Rwamagana, one of the country’s most prominent volleyball centers of excellence.

According to Dukunde, the federation will hold discussions on potential partnerships which could lead to Rwandan players to land scholarships to join the academy in the future.

A5 provides comprehensive programs for boys and girls aged 8-18, ranging from beginner to elite levels. It is a part of the League One Volleyball (LOVB) network of clubs.

Apart from being a top-ranked Academy in the 2025 Top 100 US Club Rankings, they claimed five National Championships and 15 total National Medals in the 2023 season alone.
