Africa-Press – Rwanda. East African University (EAUR) have acquired the services of Tanzanian receiving attacker Omary Bure Hassan on a two-year contract, club head coach Vincent Dusabimana confirmed on Thursday.
The university club to make it in the playoffs after finishing the regular season of the 2024/25 national volleyball league in sixth place.
Dusabimana said that EAUR are strengthening their roster to achieve their ambition of making it in the big four in Rwanda’s top tier volleyball.
“We are trying to work on our progress. Since our first season in the league we finished in seventh spot at the regular standing, this year we closed the season on sixth. So we are trying to make further progress that’s why we are looking for young players to help our progress,” he told Times Sport.
Hassan previously played for Burundian top tier side Rukinzo VC at which he was named Most Valuable player (MVP) in the Burundian league in 2023 and 2024. He also featured for the Tanzania national team in the 2023 men’s African Nations championship held in Egypt.
EAUR will start the new season hoping to seal a spot in the playoffs.
