Africa-Press – Rwanda. At least 14 volleyball teams have confirmed their participation at the forthcoming 2023 Kirehe Open Volleyball Tournament due from September 23-24.

The annual tournament is organized by first division side Kirehe Volleyball Club in partnership with Kirehe District.

After two successful editions in 2019 and 2022, the tournament will be back over the coming weekend and promises thrilling matches and fierce competition.

It will attract nine teams in men’s category and five teams for women’s competition.

Jean Claude Tuyisenge, the Team Manager of host team Kirehe Volleyball Club, told Times Sport that preparations for the tournament are in final stages and invited everyone, especially volleyball fans, to turn up in big numbers and witness the best of volleyball action from Rwanda’s top teams.

“We invite each and every one especially volleyball fans based in Kirehe and overseas to come and enjoy the beautiful game at its best,” Tuyisenge said.

For now, he said, all first division teams in men and women will participate and no team out of the league was invited.

Gisagara and Rwanda Revenue Authority are tournament’s defending champions in men and women categories respectively but, while Gisagara will be looking to defend the trophy, RRA won’t participate.
