Volleyball: REG dominate EAUR to claim first win of season

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Volleyball Club secured their first victory of the 2025/26 Rwanda National Volleyball League(RVNL) after defeating East African University Rwanda (EAUR) 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-21) in a match held on Saturday at Petit Stade Indoor gymnasium.

After an unfortunate start against Kepler VC in the opening week, REG bounced back with a dominant display, comfortably taking the first two sets 25-16.

EAUR struggled to keep pace as REG maintained consistent pressure and control throughout the game.

With volleyball fans gathered for the final fixtures of the week, REG showed strong determination to close the weekend with three points, sealing the win with a 25-21 score in the third set.

“The game went as we planned. It’s a new squad, but moving forward, things will get even better,” said REG captain Kavalo Akumuntu after the match.

REG VC will have a break during the third week of the league but will return on November 7 to face Police VC in their fourth-week encounter.

In other men’s category matches, Police VC swept Rwanda Polytechnic Ngoma 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23). Meanwhile, Kirehe VC fell to Kepler VC (21-25, 15-25, 27-29). Despite the loss, Kirehe showed improvement compared to their opening-week performance and appear to be rebuilding steadily.

APR VC also dominated their fixtures, defeating Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-13). The army side, led by coach Peter Kamasa, continued their strong form with another straight-set victory over RP-Huye (25-14, 25-15, 25-18).
