Africa-Press – Rwanda. Amavubi assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana says the team has learnt good lessons from their 2-0 defeat to Nigeria and they are hoping to make good use of them ahead of Tuesday’s clash against the Crocodiles of Lesotho at Amahoro Stadium as they hope to keep their World Cup 2026 qualification hopes alive.
Rwanda lost the top spot and dropped to third place in Group C after defeat to the Super Eagles but Nshimiyimana insists the team picked positives which they can build on to beat Lesotho.
“After losing against Nigeria, we have to accept it. We know that football is a journey and we have fewer days to correct some mistakes after the first game. There are some positives we have to build on and the game against Lesotho will be different with a different approach,” Nshimiyimana told journalists in a pre-match press conference on Monday.
“Now, we have to give all we have against Lesotho so that we can earn the three points. All players are fit for tomorrow.”
Amavubi will be without skipper Djihad Bizimana who is on a one-game suspension due to accumulated yellow cards but Nshimiyimana assured that they will cope without their talisman.
“Djihad won’t be playing but we have a pool of other good players and we will surely have a replacement. Thierry Manzi will captain the team,” he added.
A win for Amavubi would move the team to second place with 10 points.
