Gicumbi Vs Heroes
Two semi-final second leg fixtures on Tuesday, October 12, will decide which two second division league clubs, among Etoile de l’Est, Heroes, Gicumbi FC and Amagaju FC, get promoted to the top flight league which kicks off on October 30.
Amagaju FC have an uphill task to eliminate Etoile de l’Est and end the club’s dream of finally making it to the top flight league as the two sides square off in a semi-final return leg fixture at Ngoma Stadium.
The Southern Province-based side were held to a 1-1 draw by Etoile de l’Est in a semi-final first leg game on Saturday, October 9, at Bugesera Stadium.
In another semi-final game, Heroes FC travel to Gicumbi as they look forward to making a miracle by beating Gicumbi FC at their home if they are to progress to the final and book a ticket to next season’s top flight league. Heroes suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Gicumbi on Saturday and their chances of making it to the top flight league are low.
Despite the fact that the two teams share something in common, having been relegated together from the 2019/20 top flight league after the football governing body (Ferwafa) decided to end the league season after 23 match days.
Besides earning a top flight league promotion, the winners from each of the two semi-finals will face off in the final slated for Friday, October 15, in a game that will decide who will be crowned champions of the second division league.
