Africa-Press – Senegal. Le préfet de Dakar, Mor Talla Tine, a publié mercredi des arrêtés interdisant trois rassemblements prévus vendredi et dimanche prochains dans la capitale, dont l’un est une initiative de la coalition d’opposition Yewwi Askan Wi.
M. Tine a invoqué des ‘’risques de troubles à l’ordre public’’ et d’‘’entrave à la libre circulation des personnes et des biens’’, ainsi que des ‘’risques d’infiltration’’ des organisateurs du rassemblement prévu vendredi à 15 heures, place de la Nation.
Cette manifestation est une initiative du Mouvement des forces vives de la nation, une organisation regroupant des partis politiques et des organisations de la société civile opposés à une éventuelle candidature de Macky Sall à l’élection présidentielle du 25 février 2024.
The « risks of disturbing public order » and « hindering the free movement of people and goods » are also the reasons given by the prefect of Dakar to ban the march scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. between the Saint Lazare cemetery and the Keur Gorgui city.
Activists of political parties members of the Yewwi Askan Wi coalition are organizers of this rally.
The march scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m., between Place de l’Indépendance and the Palace of the Republic, is also prohibited.
Cheikh Niass, the CEO of the Wal Fadjri press group (private), is one of the organizers of this demonstration, according to the prefect’s banning order.
Mor Talla Tine invoked « risks of disturbing public order » and « hindering the free movement of people and goods » for not authorizing this planned gathering « on behalf of the Wal Fadjri group « .
The Minister of Communication, Moussa Bocar Thiam, banned the Walf TV channel from broadcasting its programs during the period from Thursday June 1 to Saturday July 1 , 2023, i.e. thirty days.
« The Wal Fadjri group has continuously broadcast images of violence exposing adolescents », maintained Mr. Thiam, considering that « these images are accompanied by remarks […] inciting violence and clearly bearing attack on state security”, which the press group defends itself against.
