
Africa-Press – Senegal. A three-day international symposium (from July 13 to 15) opens next Thursday at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD 2) in tribute to Professor Ibrahima Thioub, former rector of the said university, learned the APS of the person concerned.
An inaugural conference is scheduled for the same day from 11 a.m. after the official opening, set at 9 a.m., at the Ucad 2 amphitheater, according to an information note received by APS.
It will be given by Professor Mamadou Fall from Ucad and will focus on the theme “Writing History in Contemporary Africa”. Professor Rokhaya Fall from Ucad will be the moderator.
Organized by his former students who have now become his colleagues, this meeting will bring together academics from Cameroon, Togo, Morocco, Gabon, Niger, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritius, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, among others.
During these three days, conferences, round tables and panels will be held at Ucad 2 and at the West African Research Center (Warc in English).
The symposium will review several themes: « Memory of Atlantic slavery », « Public school: state and future », « Questioning the sources and writing of African history », « Agriculture and land in the colonial era”, “Teacher training, curricula and school performance”, “Colonisation, gender and violence”, etc.
