« During the last 48 hours, we have received some 200 tons of onions from Dakar, » he told APS, welcoming what he considers to be « positive discrimination » made to the department of Mbacké because of the Grand Magal of Touba whose edition this year will be celebrated on September 4th.
Senegal’s Market Regulation Agency (ARM) announced last week the arrival in Dakar of 2,400 tonnes of onions, the first of a series of measures taken by the Ministry of Commerce to counter the rise prices of this foodstuff on the national territory.
The head of the departmental trade service of Mbacké pointed out that the injection of this quantity of onion in his constituency had automatically lowered the price of the 25 kg bag, which fell from 22,000 to 19,000 FCFA on the market.
He also gave assurances about the « availability » of other consumer products during the Magal de Touba. The head of the Mbacké departmental trade service mentioned in particular 1,000 tons of rice, 600 liters of oil, 300 tons of sugar and 6,000 gas cylinders.
The technician also announced the forthcoming establishment of an “extended monitoring committee to monitor the correct supply of the market. »
“This committee will also be responsible for removing all products (food and pharmaceuticals) unfit for consumption,” he continued.
