The priority action plan for the third phase of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PAP3-PSE) has set itself the objective of boosting the primary sector in Diourbel over the next five years, with a view to to make this natural region of the groundnut basin play the role of locomotive of food sovereignty, APS learned from an official source on Wednesday.

« In the implementation of this PAP3 here in the Diourbel region, the lion’s share will be reserved for the primary sector », underlined Ibrahima Dieng, technical advisor to the General Directorate of Economic Policy Planning of the Ministry of Finance. Economy, Planning and Cooperation.

He spoke thus during a sharing and exchange meeting relating to the diagnosis, the strategic objectives and the collection of territorial initiative projects as part of the process of formulating the Priority Action Plan 2024-2028. (PAP3) of the PES.

The development actors gathered on this occasion first made a diagnosis of the state of implementation of the first generations of priority action plans of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE), before proposing a « portfolio of projects and structuring programs”.

« The implementation of the solutions they had to propose in terms of interventions over the period 2024-2028 will make it possible to position the Diourbel region at the level of the agricultural sector, in particular through the exploitation of its undeniable potential. in the matter, » said Ibrahima Dieng.

Il a rappelé que »des programmes de souveraineté ont été aussi proposés par le gouvernement, en vue de permettre à la région de Diourbel de jouer véritablement le rôle de locomotive en matière de souveraineté alimentaire ».

À ce propos, il a annoncé »l’implantation d’une unité industrielle de valorisation des peaux et cuirs, ainsi que la mise en place d’un complexe frigorifique. »

« But there are also other fairly important sectors that have not been overlooked in the analysis, such as water, sanitation, the health sector, road infrastructure, rural electrification of 713 villages, the strengthening of the health and school map, and even the rehabilitation of public buildings”, he noted.

« In short, all the needs of the region have been taken into account in this ambitious plan which, in its implementation, will allow the region of Diourbel to do well over the next five years », concluded Ibrahima.
