SENEGAL-ECONOMY / ADEPME and Bridge Banque Senegal commit to massive financing for SMEs

Africa-Press – Senegal. The SME Development and Supervision Agency (ADEPME) signed a partnership with Bridge Bank Senegal on Friday to boost the volume of financing for small and medium-sized Senegalese companies.

« This partnership aims to contribute in volume, in value, the financing that SMEs will need, knowing that Senegal will soon be involved in the exploitation of oil and gas and the effective implementation of local content » , declared Idrissa Diabira, the director general of ADEPME.

According to him, ADEPME and Bridge Bank Senegal have the same ambition to grow Senegalese companies.

This partnership comes in the wake of the third edition of the Senegalese SME Week, which will focus on access to financing.

Senegal « more than ever needs the full and massive commitment of financial institutions in financing SMEs », said Mr. Diabira, recalling that the financing portfolio of banks for this sector is now 500 billions of CFA francs.

« The exchanges we have with the BCEAO and the banks, individually or collectively, should allow us to define the plan needed to reach financing of 3,000 billion in 2028 », he announced.

“This project aims to support the economic fabric of Senegal,” said Alexandra Awadi, director of Bridge Bank Senegal, a branch of Bridge Bank Côte d’Ivoire.

Since its installation in Senegal in 2021, this bank has granted Senegalese SMEs and SMIs credits of around 75 billion CFA francs.

« As part of this partnership with ADEPME, said Ms. Awadi, we really want to move to another level in supporting SMEs-SMIs. »

She expressed the bank’s desire to « bring Senegalese and Ivorian operators closer together so that we can increase exchanges across the WAEMU zone », the West African Economic and Monetary Union.
