Africa-Press – Senegal. Le ministre des Infrastructures et des Transports terrestres a annoncé, jeudi, à Thiès, que le gouvernement accompagnera les transporteurs dont les véhicules ont été détruits dans le cadre des violences notées ces derniers jours au Sénégal.
Mansour Faye s’était déplacé à l’usine de montage des bus Senbus, dans la capitale du rail, où ont été garés les trois bus brulés dans la nuit du mardi au mercredi à Thiès.
He was in the company of transporters, officials from his ministry and the funding association for urban transport professionals (AFTU).
« You have shown that no one can intimidate you, » the minister said earlier during a meeting with the transporters in the governance of Thiès.
Il a salué le « comportement responsable » des membres du système de transport de AFTU qui ont décidé, malgré les troubles, de continuer à assurer le service public du transport.
Il a rappelé qu’en dépit des dégâts matériels causés au secteur lors des manifestations du premier juin et des dernières « actions organisées et ciblées » de ces derniers jours, les transporteurs ont tenu à poursuivre leurs activités.
« Anything we can do to support you, on the instruction of the President of the Republic and the supervision of the Prime Minister, we will do it, » reassured Mansour Faye, noting that he wanted to come and show his compassion to people whose property have been degraded and assure them of the support and assistance of the State.
These attacks were perpetrated during the day Tuesday and at night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
« Au-delà des pertes en vies humaines, du matériel a été détruit », a constaté Mansour Faye, selon qui, « sept bus ont été détruits, si on prend en compte les évènements passés ».
« The state will do everything in its duty, so that citizens go about their business and the economy does not stop, » he said, noting that the goal of the » attack » in Yarakh was to block the country’s economy by paralyzing transport.
« We are going to organize ourselves […] as soon as possible to study the support conditions through the tools available to the State and to ensure that you can continue to work and provide public service », announced Mr. Fay.
« Il n’est aucunement question que le service public puisse s’arrêter », a-t-il poursuivi, évoquant notamment des mesures sécuritaires que le gouverneur a déjà prises à Thiès et qu’il prendra dans toute la région, tout comme le gouvernement le fera à l’échelle nationale.
“What is important is to reiterate the state’s position: the state will remain standing and will not allow itself to be shaken by these practices,” he insisted.
According to him, « the Minister in charge of Community Development will visit the (families of the) deceased and injured », on behalf of the State.
Interpellé sur le fait que certains mettent en doute ce qui a été qualifié d’attentant par les autorités, plutôt une « machination de l’État » selon certains, il a persisté : « Si des personnes malintentionnées essayent de s’exercer dans la manipulation, c’est leur problème, la réalité est là ».
Mansour Faye a évoqué les témoignages du chauffeur et d’autres acteurs. « Nous n’allons pas dans ce sens, ce qui est important, c’est d’assurer la sécurité des personnes et de leurs biens », a-t-il ajouté.
