Africa-Press – Senegal. The opponents Birame Souleye Diop and El Hadji Malick Ndiaye, members of the management of Pastef-Les patriotes, were released on Wednesday after several days of detention, APS learned from their lawyer, Moussa Sarr .

« El Hadji Malick Ndiaye was heard this afternoon by the investigating judge of the first cabinet [of the tribunal de grande instance de Dakar], then charged. He is being prosecuted for acts or maneuvers likely to compromise public security and the dissemination of false news,” reads a note received from Me Sarr.

According to the same source, Mr. Ndiaye, communication secretary of Pastef-Les patriotes, was “provisionally released” after being charged.

« The examining magistrate of the first cabinet ordered the release of Birame Souleye Diop », announces an information note received from Me Moussa Sarr.

Mr. Diop, number 2 of Pastef-Les patriotes, the political party of Ousmane Sonko, leads the parliamentary group Yewwi Askan Wi in the National Assembly.

He was referred to the prosecution on July 7 for alleged acts of defamation against a foreign head of state and acts and maneuvers likely to discredit the institutions of the Republic.

Birame Souleye Diop was also prosecuted for acts likely to undermine the State’s diplomatic relations.

He was suspected of having accused the Senegalese and Ivorian presidents, Macky Sall and Alassane Ouattara, of poisoning their political opponents or their relatives.
