Africa-Press – Senegal. The President of the Republic, Macky Sall paid tribute to the journalist Mame Less Camara who died on Saturday, in Dakar, saluting the memory of a « lord of the pen and the verb ».

« I salute the memory of a lord of the pen and the verb, a good, honest and generous man », wrote the Head of State in particular in a message published on his social networks.

Selon Macky Sall, Mame Less Camara, « un grand éditorialiste et chroniqueur », fut « un modèle pour des générations de journalistes » sénégalais.

Le défunt, figure majeure de la presse sénégalaise, a été rappelé à Dieu dans la nuit de vendredi à samedi, à Dakar, des suites d’une maladie, a-t-on appris de sources proches du défunt.

Mame Less Camara is a former member of the Senegalese Radio and Television (RTS, public) where he began his career in the early 1980s and worked for many years before heading the editorial staff of several private media such as Walfadjri, Envi FM, Océan FM , DTV, FEM FM and more recently Future Media Television (TFM).

The deceased, a trainer at Cesti, the school of journalism at the University of Dakar, was also a correspondent for the BBC, the British public media.

Mame Less Camara also headed the Syndicate of Information and Communication Professionals of Senegal (Synpics). He was unanimous for his high professional skills and his keen sense of ethics, qualities that made him a reference in the media sector in Senegal.

A radio man, he was a renowned pen, whose political analyzes were authoritative, beyond the small world of the media. In the years 1990-2000, he wrote a weekly column in the columns of the Senegalese daily Le Matin, which has since disappeared. Under the pen name Abdou Sow, this weekly meeting had delighted many readers.

The lifting of the body, initially scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m., was postponed to Sunday, 10 a.m. It will be followed by his burial in the Muslim cemetery of Yoff.
