Africa-Press – Senegal. The 6th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Media Forum opens this Saturday in Johannesburg in the presence of media leaders and journalists from the five countries and many guests from the African continent.
This 6th forum whose theme is « The BRICS and Africa: Strengthening media dialogue for a shared and impartial future » is being held as a prelude to the BRICS summit hosted by South Africa.
The BRICS is the acronym for the Alliance Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, five emerging economies that intend to weigh on the world stage.
The summit is being held in South Africa from August 22 to 24 on the theme: “BRICS and Africa”.
The agenda of the media forum includes an opening ceremony punctuated by speeches by Minister Fu Hua, Executive Chairman of the BRICS Media Forum and Chairman of the Xinhua News Agency, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of China , Hu Heping, from Dakota Legoete, member of the executive committee of the ANC.
Other speakers will be Andrey Kondrashov, General Director of the TASS agency (Russia), Hélio Doyle, President of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (Brazil), Dmitrii Gornostaev, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sputnik International News Media (Russia), Srinivasan Ramani, Editor Deputy Chief of The Hindu (India), Alexey Nikolov, Managing Director of Russia Today, (Russia), among others.

Durant deux jours, les participants aborderont à travers différents panels le rôle des médias dans la formation d’un nouvel ordre mondial, le rôle des médias dans le développement de l’Afrique et l’apport des médias dans le développement d’une économie verte.
The BRICS Media Forum, proposed by China’s Xinhua News Agency, was jointly launched in 2015 by major media outlets from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The 5th Forum had launched a 2022-2023 action plan, which urged the media of the 5 countries to « play their role as bridges to generate strong synergy in order to ensure a high quality BRICS partnership and to strengthen the BRICS mechanism to the fullest extent possible.
