African Paralympic Games: the Senegal team leaves Dakar this Saturday for Accra (federal official)

Africa-Press – Senegal. The Senegal national handibasket team will finally leave Dakar this Saturday to take part in the African Paralympic Games, scheduled for Accra in Ghana from September 2 to 14, confided the president of Senegalese Parabasket Federation, Cheikh Ndiaye.

The Senegalese Parabasket Federation denounced a few days ago « the shortcomings and delays » of the Ministry of Sports in relation to the preparation of the national team.

The president of the federation of this discipline Cheikh Ndiaye informed the press that “the situation has resolved and that the Lions will leave Dakar this Saturday to reach Accra”.

“The team has just finished regrouping. Despite the difficulties we faced, we had a good gathering. The coaches worked well with the players,” he said.

Mr. Ndiaye requested the support of the Senegalese for victory in this African campaign.

The Lions are housed in Pool B with Egypt and Kenya. The tournament is a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The Senegal team will be led by a new coach, Frenchman Pascal Montet appointed on August 19.

A coach for 38 years, he was at the head of the French women’s national handibasket team from 2010 to 2016.

With the French women’s team, the French technician took part in three European Championships (Israel 2011, Germany 2013 and Great Britain 2015), as well as a World Championship (Toronto 2014) and two Games Paralympics (London 2012 and Rio 2016).
