Africa-Press – Senegal. The African Football Confederation (CAF) has decided to establish a minute of silence at the kick-off of the African Cup of Nations qualifying matches on Saturday and Sunday, to pay tribute to the people who died in the earthquake which hit several Moroccan towns on Friday.
CAF made this announcement on Saturday in a press release received by the APS.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation and CAF have decided to postpone to a later date the match between Morocco and Liberia, Saturday afternoon, in Agadir, as part of the last day of the qualifiers for the next CAN .
In a press release published on Saturday at midday, the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior mentioned a death toll of 1,037 people in the earthquake which affected several towns in the Shereef Kingdom.
The text also speaks of at least 1,200 injured who were counted and enormous damage recorded by the Moroccan authorities.
