Francophone Games: Senegal will send a delegation of 165 people

Africa-Press – Senegal. Senegal will be represented by a delegation of around 165 people at the 9th Francophone Games scheduled for July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, said Wednesday the director of the French-speaking world, Maguèye Touré.

« This year, the entire Senegalese delegation for the 9th Francophonie Games will be around 165 people, including 21 artists, more than a hundred athletes from different disciplines, accompanying persons and a few officials. , he said, in an interview with APS.

He welcomed the fact that the preparations in the culture and sports sectors are going well. He reported that many meetings were held with stakeholders to share information and agree on all aspects.

« It could be that during the official ceremony of the games, Senegal speaks as president of the orientation council of the organization », he underlined, specifying that the country is at the head of this council for a period of four years.

He stressed that these games are the biggest event dedicated to the youth of the Francophonie, with 3,000 to 4,000 sportsmen and artists from around forty countries.

He expressed the wish to see Senegal make a good participation both sportingly and artistically in order to exceed its performance at the 8th Abidjan Games (Côte d’Ivoire), held in 2017.

« In Abidjan, Senegal was ranked 4th in the medal table out of fifty countries. And it is there that we recorded for the first time medals in culture, including two in silver and one in bronze, » he recalled.
