Africa-Press – Senegal. Senegalese football international, Ndeye Awa Diakhaté, victim of a ruptured cruciate ligaments, will undergo surgery on her return to the club scheduled for Thursday, her national team coach confirmed, Mame Moussa Cisse.
« What hurt us the most in these two games was Ndeye Awa Diakhaté’s injury. We did two MRIs which confirmed that she had a cruciate ligament rupture, » he announced in the post-match conference.
Senegal beat Algeria, 4-0, in the second friendly match at the Lat Dior stadium. The first match played, last Friday, ended with a victory for Senegal, 3-1.
The Olympique de Marseille striker (French elite) was injured in the 22nd minute of the first match against Algeria last Friday. She was replaced by Binta Korkel Seck.
According to Mame Moussa Cissé, the former player of Le Puy Foot 43 (France) will join her club in France on Thursday to undergo surgery.
« These are the kinds of injuries you never want to see, even in the opponent. But that’s football. I hope she will come back very soon to resume her place in the team, » said Cissé.
« We asked the girls to play with her in mind. She is an important player for the team. We think of her. We are thinking about his career, » he said.
The 27-year-old player who plays for the national team with bib number 10 joined Olympique de Marseille in June 2022. She scored eight goals in thirteen games.
