Africa-Press – Senegal. The men’s national basketball team will play Monday in Lagos against its Nigerian counterpart, its first match in the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament of the African zone.

Absent from the basketball world cup scheduled for September 25 to 10 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, the Lions will have to fight to win the only qualifying place for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the end of the Lagos tournament.

This tournament, which brings together eight teams, will be held in Lagos.

Housed in pool A, the Senegal team will face that of Uganda on Tuesday at 8 p.m. GMT., before crossing Mali on Thursday at 2 p.m. GMT.

Pool B is made up of Tunisia, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Guinea.

Pre-Olympic qualifying tournaments are for 40 teams that are not qualified for the World Cup. Eight in Africa, eight others in the American continent, eight in Asia, as well as sixteen in Europe.

The five winners of each tournament will participate in the FIBA ​​Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for July 2024.
