Africa-Press – Senegal. The Al Ahly club won (3-2, aggregate score) its eleventh Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League title, at the expense of defending champions Wydad FC (1-1), Sunday, in Casablanca (Morocco).
The remake of last year’s final has, this time, turned in favor of the Egyptians. Al Ahly won the first leg, 2-1, at the Cairo International Stadium a week earlier.
The Egyptian team is crowned for the third time (2020, 2022) in the past four years. The two teams met for the third time in the final, after 2017 and 2022 with each time a defeat for the Red Devils of Al Ahly.
With eleven cups won, the Egyptian team is the most successful club in the competition. Le Wydad AC surnommée, la Forteresse rouge a été vainqueur a trois reprises du tournoi.
