Africa-Press – Senegal. Al Ahly club of Egypt won the first leg of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League final on Sunday, defeating Wydad Athletic Club on a score of two goals to one at the Cairo International Stadium.
The return match is scheduled for next Sunday at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca.
This is the third time that the two teams have met in the final of Africa’s biggest club competition. The Moroccans were winners in 2017 and 2022 ahead of the Red Devils of Al Ahly.
With ten cups won, the Egyptian team is the most successful club in the competition.
The Wydad AC nicknamed, the red fortress is, winner of the African tournament three times.
