Africa-Press – Senegal. Morocco won their first Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations at home at the expense of Egypt, who they beat, 2-1, on Saturday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium of Rabat.

The Moroccans scored the winning goal in the first period of extra time (105th min).

It was Egypt who opened the scoring at the start of the match, in the 10th minute, thanks to Mohamed Saber Hassan. But eight minutes after this goal, the defender of Pyramids FC (Egyptian Championship) is expelled.

Yanis Begraoui equalizes for Morocco in the 35th minute. The striker from Toulouse (France) scored his third goal of the tournament, and became co-top scorer of the CAN with his compatriot Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and the Ghanaian Emmanuel Yeboah.

The Atlas Lions overthrow the Pharaohs, defending champions, in front of their home crowd and in a packed Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium.

Moroccans will participate for the eighth time in their history in the Olympic Games, the next of which is scheduled for Paris in 2024. They will be accompanied by Egypt, which will be in its 13th edition, and Mali, which has returned to competition since 2004. .
