Africa-Press – Senegal. Ivorian Seko Fofana, Congolese Chancel Mbemba and Nigerian Terem Moffi are the three finalists for the Marc-Vivien Foé 2023 award for the best African footballer in the French Ligue 1.
The name of the winner will be revealed on May 30 by Radio France internationale (RFI) and France 24 (French television channel), on the initiative of the prize.
The three finalists were chosen from an initial list of eleven players including Senegalese striker from Strasbourg, Habib Diallo, who scored 20 goals this season.
Vainqueur de la dernière édition, Seko Fofana, 27 ans, est en lice pour sa propre succession. Capitaine du RC Lens, Fofana est auteur d’une belle saison. Le milieu de terrain ivoirien est l’un des grands artisans de la belle performance de son équipe, candidate à une qualification à la Ligue des champions.
Si le joueur des Sang et Or remporte à nouveau le prix, il fera autant que son compatriote Gervhino (2010-2011) à Lille à l’époque. Nicolas Pépé, l’avait emporté en 2019 (Lille).
Le Congolais Chancel Mbemba, défenseur et buteur de 28 ans, est sans doute l’un des meilleurs joueurs marseillais cette saison. Son compatriote Gaël Kakuta (Lille) a remporté l’édition de 2021.
Terem Moffi, the Nigerian striker from Nice had a great season this year. The 23-year-old Super Eagle has entertained Nice fans many times this season. The last Nigerian player to win the Marc-Vivien Foé award is Victor Osimhen, in 2020 with Lille.
