Africa-Press – Senegal. The Saudi club Al-Ahli Saudi formalized on Wednesday the arrival of Senegalese goalkeeper from Chelsea (English elite), Edouard Mendy, with whom he signed a three-year contract .
Édouard Mendy will play in the Saudi Pro League (Saudi Arabian championship) with his compatriot and club teammate, defender Kalidou Koulibaly who has signed with Al-Hilal for all seasons.
Arrived in 2020 at Chelsea, from Stade Rennais FC (France), Mendy won the 2021 Champions League, the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup the same year. He was also a finalist for the FA Cup, 2021 edition.
Mendy was also voted best goalkeeper of the season by UEFA in August 2021, before being acclaimed, a few months later, best goalkeeper of the year « The Best FIFA Football Awards », in January 2022.
Finalist of the 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) with Senegal, he won the continental trophy with the Lions in February 2022. Edouard Mendy was voted best goalkeeper of this edition of the CAN.
