Africa-Press – Senegal. The Senegalese goalkeeper of Chelsea (English elite), Edouard Mendy, has reached an agreement with the Saudi club of Al-Ahli Saudi, with which he should engage until 2026, announce several foreign media.
According to these media, the negotiations between the two parties “are in the finalization phase, so that the Senegalese goalkeeper can join the Saudi championship”.
Arrived in 2020 at Chelsea, from Stade Rennais FC (France), Mendy won the 2021 Champions League, the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup the same year. He was also a finalist for the FA Cup, 2021 edition.
Mendy was also voted goalkeeper of the season by UEFA in August 2021, before being acclaimed, a few months later, best goalkeeper of the year « The Best FIFA Football Awards », in January 2022.
He was a finalist in the 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) with Senegal. He finally won the continental trophy with the Lions, crowned for the first time in Cameroon, in February 2022. Edouard Doudou Mendy was voted best goalkeeper of this edition of the CAN.
