Africa-Press – Senegal. French basketball player of Senegalese origin Sidy Cissoko was drafted in 44th position by the Texan franchise Les Spurs de San Antonio (United States), on the night of Thursday to Friday.
The 19-year-old point guard is the son of Yakia Cissoko, a member of Senegal’s basketball team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
The two-meter player played last season with the G-League Ignite, a team made up of talented young people presentable for the NBA draft.
The former player of Saskia Baskonia (1st division Spain), selected in 44th position, i.e. in the second round (beyond 30th place), will however have to fight to join his compatriot Victor Wembanyama, selected in first position by the San Antonio Spurs.
The NBA draft is an annual event in which the 30 teams in the North American basketball league take turns selecting a player from college, high school, or overseas.
