Africa-Press – Senegal. Tamsir Barry, a Senegalese checkers game promoter, aims to regularly organize tournaments in the regions, with the aim of putting Senegal back on the African and international scene.

To reposition the Senegalese checkers game in Africa and internationally, he decided to organize “regularly tournaments for regional leagues”.

Barry was speaking during a meeting with journalists on Saturday in Saint-Louis, as part of the launch of a tournament between practitioners from Dakar and Saint-Louis. This initiative aims to support the Saint-Louis Regional League in its activities.

“Only the development of the discipline interests me, and if the doors are open to me, I will do the same thing in the other regions,” promised the promoter.

He said he came “to accompany the Saint-Louis league which organizes, when resources allow, tournaments”.

“Senegal was a stronghold of checkers games with players like Ass Malik Diallo, Moustique, etc., but today foreigners come to beat us at home,” he laments.

He considers this situation abnormal, especially since according to him, certain young Senegalese “can be worth” a lot of satisfaction, “provided that they play regularly”.

This tournament launched in Saint-Louis ends on Wednesday. It brings together Dakar and Saint-Louis at the rate of four per league.
