
Africa-Press – Senegal. Le tirage au sort de la phase de poules des matchs de qualification pour la Coupe du monde 2026, dans la zone Afrique, aura lieu le 12 juillet prochain à Cotonou (Bénin), a annoncé, vendredi, dans un communiqué, la Confédération africaine de football (CAF).
La cérémonie se tiendra à la veille de la 45e Assemblée générale ordinaire de la CAF prévue dans la capitale béninoise.
This decision was taken during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday in Algiers. The meeting was chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
The African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup will be held from November 2023 to March 2026.
The CAF play-off tournament is scheduled for November 10 and 18, 2025. In March 2026, the FIFA play-off tournament will take place.
Lors de la réunion, le Comité exécutif a approuvé le format et les dates des éliminatoires qui impliquera les 54 associations membres de la CAF. Elles seront divisées en neuf groupes.
“The winners of each group will automatically qualify for the World Cup. The four best runners-up from each group will play a CAF play-off tournament. The winner of this tournament will participate in the FIFA play-off tournament,” the statement read.
The first and second days are scheduled for November 13 and 21, 2023.
The third and fourth days will take place on June 3 and 11, 2024. The dates of March 17 and 25, 2025 will be devoted to the fifth and sixth days. The seventh and eighth days, September 1 and 9, 2025. The ninth and tenth days will be played on October 6 and 14, 2025.
The 23rd edition of the Men’s World Cup will take place in June and July 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
This edition called « ‘United 2026 » will be the first with 48 teams instead of the usual 32.
