Africa-Press – Senegal. Des financements d’un montant de 60 millions de francs CFA par région ont été alloués à 922 projets, dans le cadre du programme Gouvernance, migration et développement (GMD), a appris l’APS de Mamoudou Diallo, son codirecteur national.
Ce programme est financé par le Fonds fiduciaire de l’Union européenne pour l’Afrique et exécuté par la direction générale d’appui aux Sénégalais de l’extérieur, à travers les bureaux d’accueil, d’orientation et de suivi (BAOS).
À travers l’initiative GMD, ‘’on a lancé un appel à projets pour permettre aux jeunes de s’approprier ces concepts et ces financements. A travers tout le Sénégal, nous avons reçu plus de 25.000 dossiers. À l’issue de la sélection par région, via les agences régionales de développement, on a retenu 922 projets, et chaque région a obtenu 60 millions de francs CFA’’, a-t-il précisé.
M. Diallo signale que l’État du Sénégal a réactivé la migration circulaire avec le royaume d’Espagne, à travers l’enrôlement de 125 jeunes travaillant actuellement dans ce pays comme saisonniers.
« We signed agreements just two months ago. We have selected in the 14 regions of Senegal, through the BAOS, 125 young Senegalese, who left to work in Spain with good pay, » he explained.
Mamoudou Diallo invites the Senegalese media to better educate young people on the ways and means of legal migration, as well as the opportunities available to them in Senegal.
« We want the media to be on our side so that we can together inform young people that it is possible to emigrate through the channels of legal, safe, orderly and regular migration. It’s better than taking the canoes or [going through] the desert, with all the consequences that we know, » he said.
The co-director of the Governance, Migration and Development initiative wishes to establish a partnership with the Senegalese media, for good media coverage of migration-related topics.
The GMD program contributes to the sound management of migration and to the fight against forced displacement and irregular migration. Its objective is to strengthen the “inclusive governance” of migration in Senegal and to improve the synergy between migration and development, explains a document received from its leaders.
It is implemented by the General Directorate of Support for Senegalese Abroad, which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad, and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development.
The Governance, Migration and Development initiative proposes to contribute to the promotion of regular migration, through the strengthening of the human, technical and material intervention capacities of support and advice services for migrants.
