Africa-Press – Senegal. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth, Entrepreneurship and Employment, Mor Khoudia Gueye, hailed the role of the Association of Adult Scouts and Guides of Senegal (ASGAS) in mentoring and supporting young people.
‘’Nous sommes convaincus que l’ASGAS de par ses expériences peut aider la jeunesse à jouer le rôle qui lui revient sur la question climatique et environnementale, mais aussi à mieux participer à la prévention et à la résolution des conflits, qui, aujourd’hui, ont fondamentalement changé de nature’’ a dit M. Guèye.
Il présidait, lundi, la quatrième édition de la conférence africaine de l’amitié internationale des scouts et guides adultes axée sur ‘’l’ ASIG (association mondiale d’anciens scouts et guides) face aux défis de la paix et l’environnement’’.
“If we want to make our mother Africa better, we must set ourselves very ambitious goals and act together without wasting time but also reduce inequalities and inspire action to fight against climate change,” he argued. .
Parlant du thème, il a estimé que »’c’est un sujet qui exhorte à agir, à restaurer la planète et à y instaurer une paix durable (…)’’.
L’ASGAS, a souligné, son président Jean Paul Thibault, »ambitionne d’aider et de servir le mouvement scout et guide à travers des conseils mais aussi une assistance aux plus jeunes’’.
« ASIG is a worldwide association of former scouts and guides who, because of their promise kept by being young from + once a scout, always a scout +, have felt the desire to live this scout ideal by grouping together as a national friendly in different countries of the world with the aim of always serving the scout and guide movement through its advice, its suggestions, its help and its assistance to the youngest », insisted Mr. Thibault, full member since 1996.
Il a rappelé que »l’AISG est représentée dans tous les continents et est constituée du comité mondial et des comités régionaux notamment le comité Europe, Asie-pacifique, arabe et celui de l’Afrique’’.
Welcoming the choice of theme, the sponsor of the conference, Marie Louise Correa maintained that « scouting is a global movement aiming to transmit peace but also a locomotive, a letting nature pass, adding that the scout is the precursor of the environmentalist.
Angola, Benin, Burundi and Cape Verde (not yet recognized as a member) are participating in this conference which is being held until Sunday. The other activities of this conference, opened this Monday, at the Place du Souvenir, are taking place at the Mont-Thabor Spiritual Center of the Rufisque sisters.
