Africa-Press – Senegal. Around 10,000 travelers will be transported by train during the Grand Magal scheduled for Monday in Touba, APS learned from the general director of the national company Grands trains du Sénégal (GTS SA), Samba Ndiaye.
“This year, around 10,000 passengers will be transported by train, in thirty-two rotations during the Magal de Touba,” he declared, specifying that each train has a capacity of “720 seats.”
Samba Ndiaye spoke thus after the arrival of the first passenger train in Touba. On board this train which had left Thiès this morning, had embarked around a hundred pilgrims who had come to take part in the Magal.
« Regarding prices, prices are set from Thiès to Touba as follows: 7,000 FCFA for the first air-conditioned class and 4,000 FCFA for the second ventilated class, » said Samba Ndiaye, adding that the prices are « considered accessible. »
The general director of the GTS welcomed this railway rehabilitation project which makes it possible to « facilitate the movement of people and goods », but also « to limit the numerous cases of accidents recorded on our roads, especially during religious holidays. »
