Africa-Press – Seychelles. On the first day of track and field athletics competitions for the 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games yesterday at the Alarobia Stadium, local long distance athlete Iven Moïse clinched a gold medal in the 10,000m race and in the process improved the national record.
With a time of 30 minutes 48 seconds, Moïse bettered his old record of 31 minutes 40 seconds.
Seychelles’ other medal in track and field athletics came courtesy of handisport athlete Michael Andrew in the 100m where he finished third in 12.39 seconds.
Track and field events will continue today at the Alarobia Stadium.
