Africa-Press – Seychelles. Eight (8) families yesterday afternoon received the keys to their new homes that were built at Eden Village in the Roche Cayman district.
They had their houses locked together by the officials of the Ministry of Land and Housing and the Property Management Corporation (PMC), in a small ceremony that took place.
This was in the presence of the Minister for Land and Housing, Billy Rangasamy, elected member for the Roche Caïman district, Honorable Audrey Vidot, principal secretary for housing Jude Florentine, employee of the Ministry of Land and Housing, PMC, among other people who were present.
This four-story block, which includes eight units of three-room houses, in the project ’24 houses in 24 districts in 24 months’, was built by the company China Shenyang Corporation (SEY) for a sum of 7.03 million rupees.
This project began in May 2022 and ended in June this year. As a safety measure for residents, this block of eight houses is equipped with fire fighting equipment as well as solar lights placed around it to provide good lighting. It also offers a ‘ramp’ service to help people who otherwise can’t. These houses are being maintained by PMC.
In his address, Minister Rangasamy thanked the eight families for their patience and their consistent contribution to the ‘Home Saving Scheme’ which helped qualify them to get a house. He pointed out that the contribution they have made is an investment towards their own family and that funds will continue to be made to help other people benefit from a home as well.
“They took their responsibilities seriously and today their dreams have come true,” Minister Rangasamy said.The Minister asked that they respect their laws, especially in regard to keeping their homes and the environment clean, do not play loud music to affect others who are resting to resume work and school, do not vandalize, do not sound animals and especially do not do or encourage no antisocial activities such as drugs and alcohol, among other actions that are not desirable at all and can see you in a situation where you can be shot at home if forced.
He added that his ministry will look for all ways to assist those who are waiting for a home.
“Occupy your yard well, keep it clean, in a good state, and show pride in your environment and yard. But it is very important that they do their best to contribute in a positive way to ensure that their community is one that is pleasant to live in, where there is love, tolerance, respect, peace, harmony and joy,” added Minister Rangasamy.
On his part, Honorable Vidot congratulated the applicants who had the sense to solve their own homes. He added that even if the process of triage of applicants for this housing project is not easy, he is satisfied with the work of the committee that was put in place to do this work, which is the end of at least those who have been waiting for a long time. hope and who also show commitment to paying their contribution, can get their own house.”So I congratulate those who have won, but I also say to those who have not yet won, not to be discouraged, not to despair, but to continue to pay their contributions towards their homes so that they, too, will have that smile and that tear of joy when they get it for themselves,” Honorable Vidot said.
Honorable Vidot said that the district will continue to seek support from the government so that the other people who are still waiting for the house to be considered among the other housing projects at the national level in order to limit the amount of land to build houses in this district.
On behalf of the tenants, Michelle Delcy thanked the government and other people who helped to realize this housing project that gave them the sense to solve their own homes. He asked his fellow tenants to live well together and to continue to honor their commitment to pay their contributions and ensure that their place remains clean and welcoming at all times.
In an interview with the press, Mrs. Delcy, who is a resident of Roche Caïman, said that she is very happy and happy to get her own house after 10 years of continuous payments in the ‘Home Saving Scheme’.
“It’s very nice and I really appreciate it. I ask the other residents who are waiting not to despair, to continue making their payments and that they also get their housing,” Ms. Delcy said.This 36-year-old woman, mother of a 13-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son, and who was staying with her mother below Roche Caïman, says she is not too late to move into her new home.
This house project in the RocheCaïman district is among two other house projects in the Bel Air and St. Louis districts that have also been completed and where tenants will soon receive their keys.
