Africa-Press – Seychelles. What began as a random act of kindness from small business owner Kenneth Tenente has turned into a trajectory-altering revamp for his motoring business through a chance encounter with IUM founder and CEO Antonio Iozzo.
The two met by chance when Antonio’s vehicle was receiving upgrades and modifications at a different workshop. With the project facing significant challenges, Kenneth stepped in to assist unbeknown to Antonio. “This guy just kept coming out and going to this other shop to help them get my car right for eight days. And I didn’t even know him,” says Antonio.
Remarkably, Kenneth did not seek compensation for his time and commitment to this project, which took time away from his own business and to which there was no financial benefit. Antonio eventually had the pleasure of meeting the man who had dedicated many valuable hours away from his company out of pure kindness.
To express his gratitude, the CEO of IUM visited the Paced Motorsport workshop in Edenvale, where he discovered a distressed business with rundown work areas and inadequate facilities, tools, and equipment. Recognising Kenneth’s exceptional potential to excel in the automotive industry with the proper support and resources, Antonio selected Paced Motorsport as a candidate for what is now known as IUM’s Business Upliftment Initiative.
Now named Horsepower Motorsport, the business received a complete workshop renovation, with drywalling, lighting, electrical and plumbing upgrades. An exterior facelift was in order to enhance its visual appeal and align with the new CI. “It started with a name change and then a paint, and then it turned into a full-scale project,” Antonio said.
State-of-the-art equipment has been installed, including vehicle lifts, a compressor system, and power tools. “I’m treating this as if it’s my own business, and how I would build it is how I’m going to give it to him,” he said when asked why he was purchasing the best equipment on the market.
Thanks to the strategic corporate partnership with IUM, the new workshop stands tall in its new frame, and its owner, Kenneth, is filled with gratitude and pride. “My priority is how I look after my clients (after service) and quality. If there’s a problem, how quickly can I sort it out, and how quickly can I give the client back their vehicle,” he said.
Horsepower Motorsport is now a one-stop shop for all automotive-related requirements, from a simple service to high-end vehicle modifications and upgrades.
Antonio Iozzo is also the author of the new book, Slaying the Dragon.
