Africa-Press – Seychelles. “The 22nd of April every year is dedicated as Earth Day where countries around the world reflect on the state of the planet Earth and how we can contribute to make it a better place to live in.
“Over the years, people have used so much of the Earth’s natural resources for wealthier and more comfortable lifestyles. Many times, they have ignored the impact of their activities on the health of our planet.
“This year’s theme is ‘Invest in Our Planet’. It is a time to reflect on the way we do things and how we can do it differently to restore the planet and rebuild degraded ecosystems.
“The Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment will be organising two main activities to commemorate earth day. A beach cleaning and tree planting activities at Anse à la Mouche in partnership with the private sector, fisherman association and district representatives. It will also launch the investment by Airtel in climate adaptation projects to be implemented in different schools – water harvesting.
“It is time to invest in a sustainable future, restore nature and build a healthier lifestyle for our future generations. You need to do your part. We all need to invest our courage, effort and resources in a greener and sustainable future. No matter which part of the world we live, this fragile planet needs us all.
“Our action will not only help to create a healthy life but also maintain a healthy earth to sustain our livelihood and wellbeing.
“Together, let’s ‘invest in our planet’.”
