Africa-Press – Seychelles. Accredited in October 2018 as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Seychelles, Her Excellency Mme Guo Wei, is at the end of her mission. And as per the diplomatic tradition, she paid a farewell visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy, at Mont Fleuri, on Monday, January 9.
Mr. Radegonde was surrounded by his main collaborators, including the Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock-Tave.
The head of the Seychellois diplomacy thanked the ambassador and rejoiced, on this occasion, of the quality of the bilateral ties and the friendship between the two countries which has already been established over a period of 46 years. He expressed his gratitude to the government of the People’s Republic of China for its continuous support and quality support to the Seychelles, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, medical expertise, vaccines to fight against the Covid 19 pandemic, capacity building, etc…
He also congratulated Ambassador Guo for the leading role she played as dean of the diplomatic corps, all while assuring her total availability to work closely with her successor – who remains to be named – in the same spirit in order to consolidate and raise the relations between the two countries towards the highest summits.
“With the re-opening of the borders in China, Seychellois students will be able to return to their respective universities to finish their studies and, at the same time, we will soon be able to welcome Chinese tourists to our shores, following the removal of sanitary measures”, he also stressed. Minister Radegonde, who ended his intervention by wishing the Chinese diplomat all the possible success in his future projects.
Ambassador Guo, on the other hand, made the point about her journey and her achievements during her mandate. She said she is happy that her country has played a crucial role in projects that are essential to the development of the Seychelles.
“During my mandate in Seychelles, I received the support of the government, both at the local level and on the international stage, and I am very grateful to him,” she stressed.
In this context, she gave the assurance that her successor will continue to collaborate on projects of mutual interest for both countries and to find ways to improve exchanges and collaboration in areas such as the blue economy, the maritime security and tourism.
