Africa-Press – Seychelles. An awareness session organised on Thursday on Praslin shone a spotlight on women working in traditionally male-dominated and sensitive security sectors. It also aimed to empower women to assume leadership roles, promote gender equality, and tackle discrimination in these fields.
Held at the Oasis Hotel, Restaurant & Spa, the activity was organised by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Family and Equality. On behalf of the ministry, programme officer, Bennette Barbé, addressed those present.
The session is one of the activities organised to mark this year’s International Women’s Day which was on March 8, 2026. “This year, we are placing greater emphasis on decentralising our services and reaching further into the community. It is for this reason that we have decided to begin with women in the Praslin community,” said Ms Barbé.
